VA Advisor is great, but her higher-ups aren’t. Been waiting over 3 weeks to get my VA benefits for using my GI Bill that includes funding for textbooks. After numerous calls, and emails addressing my concerns, they keep giving me the same answers of how I have to wait longer than 4 weeks. The last community college I went to was able to certify my enrollment to the VA in just 2 weeks. With school already starting, I have assignments that requires textbooks and I still have not been able to acquire them, I also submitted a request of funds for Veterans from Lone Star three days ago and still have not received a response. If you are a Veteran looking for a college to attend, please only come to Lone Star as a last resort as you will have to wait double the time than expected in order to get your benefits.

If I could give no stars I would. My husband and I took our two youngest there to get some energy out and we started in the racket ball courts and got kicked out of there, which is understandable but the nice lady at the front desk said they can’t be inside the courts but they can go up to the inside track and walk. Well in comes some pompous jerk who kicked us off the track and we told him the lady downstairs said they could be up here and he said and I quote “she doesn’t know what she’s talking about no kids under 13 are allowed.” There are no signs posted anywhere saying that nor did anyone tell us that when we first got there. Then we went back downstairs to watch other family members play racket ball and he continued to talk about us as if we weren’t there, with another employee. I do NOT recommend going to this gym. The guy was rude and it is not family friendly even though they have a family membership option. It was our first time going there and it will be the last.

I give this school 3 stars because although most of the staff is very professional and I think the campus is actually quite beautiful and clean, the financial aid office is very disappointing. I started applying in late June of 2023 and I seemed to have issues with this college and my high school diploma (which is an online school based in California). I was given the run around for nearly 2 months. I had to go, bring my high school diploma, wait for call backs, and just given random and incorrect explanations until finally, after classes started, I had to talk to a supervisor to tell me my high school diploma is not from an accredited school. But had I been told this in July, I could have applied for a college in California. It doesn't seem like my high school diploma is invalid in California so I'll have no choice but to attend schooling online but I'm very disappointed in all the turnaround and all just to be rejected for financial aid. I have to also add, advising and transcripts both told me my high school is accredited and they saw no issues with it. But i disgress. I would have really wished to be attending LSC but by the looks of it, the financial aid office are no help with those coming in out of state or at least double checking high schools when checking diplomas. But they are professional and respectful hence why I don't give 1 star. You guys are a good college, but you guys could be great if things could be handled in a timely manner and with integrity/consideration to those applying.

This college is a sham. So back 11 years ago I was a single mother trying to get a degree and raise a child and work a full time job. I started taking classes but ended up taking on too much and having to drop them. LSC said too bad so sad your student academic status is not good enough for us to give you your financial aid (which by the way fafsa said I was poor enough to need help and was willing to send the money). I had to go to school out of my own pocket after that because they wouldn't give me my aid and i took every one of the classes without dropping and was told i was in good academic standing for those swmesters. Now 11 years later I tried to get back into school for nursing and of course they deny my financial aid because of something from over a decade ago. I am told to file an appeal and I do it has been 1 month since I filed for review and now tomorrow is the deadline to pay for my classes which I need to take now to be able to apply for the nursing program in spring 2024. I tried to reach out with then and am basically told that it could take months for them to look at my appeal for financial aid and that if they don't look at it by tomorrow then I have to drop my classes and I'm out of luck. I was told several times that no one could help me and they will deny or approve my financial aid whenever in the next few months. I have had to drop my classes I will not be able to apply for nursing school until 2025 all because of something that happened over 1 decade ago and because the school financial aid department is understaffed and unwilling to help in a timely manner. This school is awful. It's my money I was approved for by the government and you won't let me attend classes with it? This school has held me back most of my adult life from getting an education. Like my daughter is a teenager now and you still won't give me my financial aid for something that happened when she was a toddler? I would go to another school but this is the only one close and my car won't make it further away. I can't believe how much this school has screwed me over. Don't enroll here if you drop classes even though they got paid for them they will never let you have financial aid again.

The college was pretty good, all things considered. Pretty inaccessible as a student with disabilities, but over time I grew resigned and chose to just make my leg and hip exponentially worse— otherwise I wouldn’t get to class on time. It was the path of least resistance, really. So if you’re an abled body student, you’ll probably love LSC. If not? Take it from me: you don’t want to come here. Save yourself.

I want to start off by saying that I'm extremely happy to have attended this school. I have always felt welcomed to this school from the moment I stepped in everyone there is always helpful and ready to assist in anyway possible. The advisors and faculty staff try to be as involved as possible to make sure non of the students feel left behind. Their custodian team always keep the campus super clean and I was very appreciative of that due to my allergies. Over all it has been a great experience and I'm grateful to have attended this wonderful community.

Love my teachers here. Gym is phenomenal. SGA is amazing. Always extra activities that are fun are going on constantly. NSLS taught me a lot during Covid and kept me positive. All the students are just as sweet as can be. I’m an older student and haven’t felt judged once. I transferred from Woodlands location because this was actually closer and have not regretted it one bit. The aura is more my style here.

Paid for 3 course online so I could work and go to school. I paid for the courses but they did not take the money despite marking it as paid on the website and booted me out of 2 of the 3 courses I was taking. Wasted six months of my life …
